Hello! I am Mia.

My love for infants started when I was a toddler myself (see below). I started caring for young children and infants in 2010. Throughout the years, I have worked with first-time families, families with multiples, and newborns with differences. I began my professional career in education, as an elementary school teacher. Throughout my time, I began to realize my passion lies within newborns, new parents, and perinatal mental health. As I transition out of classroom teaching, I have shifted my focus to mental health, and postpartum support. I hope to share my passion with new families while educating, supporting, and caring for you in one of the times of greatest need. I am so looking forward to meeting you.

I am a DONA-trained postpartum doula servicing Manhattan and Brooklyn, with a passion for supporting families during the transformative postpartum period. I am infant CPR, and first-aid certified. My mission is to provide guidance, care, and reassurance as you navigate the joys and challenges that come with welcoming a new member into your family.

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.

Welcoming a new baby, or babies, into your life can be overwhelming from various angles. If you're a first-time parent, you're likely grappling with questions spanning from diapers to feeding to sleep. For those who've navigated the newborn phase before, managing the expanding responsibilities within a growing family and a bustling home can be challenging. Regardless of the number of children in your care, the universal need for support remains crucial. A postpartum doula is your general guide to all these challenges, bringing a wealth of knowledge, resources, experience, and hands-on support to clients. Essentially, I am here to work with you and your family to address any barriers and help facilitate a smoother transition into the joys of parenthood.

Testimonials

CAN I GET REIMBURSED THROUGH CARROT?

Yes! If your employer offers fertility and family-building benefits through Carrot, you may be eligible for reimbursement for postpartum doula services. Check with Carrot’s guidelines or your HR department to understand the specifics of your plan and how to submit for reimbursement.

WHAT WOULD A TYPICAL SHIFT LOOK LIKE?

All shifts vary based on individual needs. Daytime shifts typically last around 4 hours, while nighttime shifts are between 10-12 hours. During our time together, I will provide non-medical support, resources, feeding support, and recommendations. I may prepare light snacks and meals, assist with sibling routines, help support parents with newborn care, attend to general household organization, educate the client on emotional and physical warning signs, and most importantly promote self-determination, and boost confidence. Each visit will be tailored to the families’ specific needs and will change as the postpartum period progresses.

“I had Mia and two other doulas help out after my 2nd baby. They did various shifts throughout the day and evenings. Mia was fantastic. Like having someone who is a combination of a good friend and professional support. I was always very comfortable when she took care of our daughter. Given the nature of having 2 children, she was very flexible in whatever help they needed. Mia is very non-judgemental and helped us in every way. Due to her support, I was able to spend time with my newborn and my husband could take care of our older child. I am so grateful I was able to have so much help after birth this time!”

“Mia came highly recommended by our birth doula. I didn’t have any family come help so Mia came in for several visits and truly did everything! She made me meals, brought water and tea, made snacks, did baby laundry, and organized all my baby stuff and things I needed for postpartum. She knew what I needed before I knew it. Thanks to her help I was able to transition well into motherhood and felt empowered taking care of my baby myself. What I loved as well is that she prepared me for my pediatrician appointments- I was always very well prepared when we went to see the pediatrician which gave me peace of mind.”

“I hired Mia after my 2nd birth. She is just amazing- such a ray of sunshine and aura of calm! She is studying therapy, hence she is very non-judgmental and very supportive on all topics. Some people can just get babies relaxed and Mia is one of them. I felt I was in the best hands with her and highly recommend her!”

“Mia was IMMENSELY helpful after the birth of my second daughter.  My second daughter was born just 22 months after my first, so I had 2 kids under 2 for the first few months.  I also had a second c-section so I had limited ability to lift and significant pain for the first few weeks.  And, my first daughter understandably still needed a lot of attention while my second daughter only liked to sleep while being held, which posed a significant challenge.  Mia is a calm, caring, and kind person who somehow knew just the right thing to do or say in that environment.  Mia would lovingly hold the newborn daughter so that she would sleep – for hours on end, it seemed – and would compassionately listen to me vent about the many challenges of having 2 young children, trying to work at the same time, and trying to physically get back to a comfortable space.  If there was ever any downtime, Mia would fold laundry, do dishes, play with my older daughter, and just generally make everyone’s lives better!  To be honest, I wish Mia could have just moved in with us for the duration as she made every hour she was there SO much easier and more pleasant.  Our first few months with 2 kids under 2 were not easy, but they were manageable BECAUSE we had Mia helping us.”
