Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A CONSULTATION CALL?

We will meet to discuss what has prompted you to seek a postpartum doula, learn more about your pregnancy and family unit, and your hopes for postpartum. I will share about myself, my training, and my role as your postpartum doula. I will provide you with scheduling information, the first few weeks postpartum, and answer any questions you may have.

WHAT IF I PLAN TO BOTTLE FEED?

Postpartum doulas are experts in general postpartum care, and you are the expert on what is right for your family. All feeding methods are supported, and guidance will be adjusted accordingly based on individual needs.

CAN I GET REIMBURSED THROUGH CARROT?

Yes! If your employer offers fertility and family-building benefits through Carrot, you may be eligible for reimbursement for postpartum doula services. Check with Carrot’s guidelines or your HR department to understand the specifics of your plan and how to submit for reimbursement.

WHAT WOULD A TYPICAL SHIFT LOOK LIKE?

All shifts vary based on individual needs. Daytime shifts typically last around 4 hours, while nighttime shifts are between 10-12 hours. During our time together, I will provide non-medical support, resources, feeding support, and recommendations. I may prepare light snacks and meals, assist with sibling routines, help support parents with newborn care, attend to general household organization, educate the client on emotional and physical warning signs, and most importantly promote self-determination, and boost confidence. Each visit will be tailored to the families’ specific needs and will change as the postpartum period progresses.
